Towards increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) base of Ogun state, government is to overhaul the Ogun Inland Water Transport, Tourism and Fishing for optimal productivity.<
The wife of the Ogun state governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun made this known while hosting members of the Ogun Inland Water Transport Operators and Fishermen Association at the MTR Hall, GRA, Abeokuta during a courtesy call.
Mrs. Abiodun harped on the need for the state to maximally harness the potentials in the water sector assuring necessary safety gadgets like live jackets would be provided to secure the people that might want to move on the waters.
She further asserted that preservation of the aqua products was also necessary to minimize loss on the part of the fishermen.
The leader of the team, Mr. Olalekan Arogundade earlier in his remark suggested the need for private sector participation to boost the water sector as government alone could not handle all the needs.
He highlighted the various challenges faced in the industry while calling on government to look into their plight and invest in the sector to boost the revenue base of the state.
Meanwhile, the wife of the Ogun state governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has been decorated as Ambassador Plenipotentiary Africa by the National School Crime Prevention Corps (NSCPC), Ogun State.
According to the Corps National Leader, Mr. Ige Folayinka, the e honour was conferred on her in recognition of her motherly role on the Children of the state since she assumed office as the First Lady.
The recipient of the honor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun expressed her appreciation for the honor pledging her unflinching support for the corps and the children children.
